Advanced Techniques - Decorative Elements

This class is an introduction to the tools, supplies and basic techniques you will need to paint a piece of furniture or other home decor. We will discuss what kind of things you can paint, what to look for in furniture to paint, tools and supplies needed for success, how to prepare and repair a piece for painting. We will practice painting techniques to get rustic and modern finishes, dry brushing, white and dark washes, wet and dry distressing, and selecting and applying top coats. Class is 2 hours. You will take home a sample board you paint with the techniques taught in the class. All supplies will be provided. Dixie Belle products will be used in the class.  Teacher is Andrea Addis.

This class builds on basic skills and introduces new products and techniques for multi-color and textured finishes. We will discuss tools and supplies needed to achieve advanced finishes. We will practice painting techniques to achieve a solid stained finish, crackle finish, layered finish, blended/ombre finish, textured old world, and faux wood grain. Class is 2 hours. You will take home a sample board you paint with the techniques taught in class. All supplies will be provided. Dixie Belle products will be used in the class.  Teacher is Andrea Addis.

This class focuses on the use and application of decorative waxes, glazes, and metallics. We will discuss tools and supplies needed and best practices when using decor waxes, glazes, and metallics. We will practice application of waxes, glazes, and metallics. Class is one and a half hours. You will take home a sample board you create with the techniques taught in class. All supplies will be provided. Dixie Belle and Re-Design by Prima products will be used in the the class.

Decorative Elements - Transfers, Decoupage, Moulds, Stencils, Raised Stencils

This class focuses on adding advanced decorative elements to add visual interest and texture. We will discuss tools and supplies needed. We will practice applying transfers; applying decoupage paper; creating, applying, and decorating moulds; adding stencils; and creating raised stencils. We will also practice adding top coats to decorative items. Class is 3 hours. You will take home a sample board you create with the techniques taught in class. All supplies will be provided. Dixie Belle and Re-Design by Prima products will be used in the class.  Teacher is Andrea Addis.

Bring a furniture piece to class that is no bigger than 24” wide and we will clean, repair, prep, paint, distress (if desired), and seal. Class is for single color paint application. Each step will be instructor led and instructor will be available for individual assistance during the class. All supplies will be provided. Dixie Belle products will be used in the class. If you would like to paint a piece that is larger than 24”, you may purchase two class slots. Cost $120
